WATER IN EXPLANATION

From the stable of the hall of champions

Water appears over 700 times in
the Bible, much more than words
such as faith, hope, prayer,
worship. Before the recreation of
the world, back then in Genesis
chapter 1, water was on the face
of the whole earth before God
made the lights, plants, living
creatures and everything else. He
spoke to water to bring forth the
sea creatures we have today.
Water, as a chemical compound
known as H2O, is widely
distributed in nature.
Roughly 70 percent of this entire
planet is water. Out of this 70
percent of water, 1 percent is
consumable by humans, 67
percent is salty, and the
remaining 2 percent is ice.
Throughout nature, water exists in
3 physical states: liquid, solid,
and gas, which are all essential
for human existence. The liquid
state is its most common physical
state, generally referred to as
“water,” while the solid state is
known as ice and commonly takes
the structure of hard,
amalgamated crystals, such as ice
cubes, or loosely accumulated
granular crystals, such as snow.
Its gaseous state is known as
water vapor or steam and is
characterized by water assuming
the configuration of transparent
clouds. Water, therefore, is at the
centre of every life; this is why no
one can live more than 3-5 days
without the intake of water.
Water also helps in distributing
essential nutrients to cells, such
as minerals, vitamins, and
glucose. It removes waste
products, which includes toxins
that the organs’ cells reject and
removes them through body
waste. It participates in the
biochemical break-down of all the
food we eat and possesses a large
heat capacity which helps limit
changes in body temperature in a
warm or cold environment. It’s
also an effective lubricant around
joints, and is a shock absorber for
eyes, brain, spinal cord and even
for the foetus through amniotic
fluid.
In the Bible, water played many
significant roles: It was the
means of deliverance for the
Israelites from Pharaoh’s army
when God parted the Red Sea;
Noah and his family in the Ark
were kept afloat by a flood while
others perished outside. In the
New Testament, it symbolizes the
Word of God by which the hearer
is cleansed: “…Christ also loved
the church and gave Himself for
her, that He might sanctify and
cleanse her with the washing of
water by the word” (Ephesians
5:25-26). From all these, it’s
obvious that this clear, tasteless,
and odourless liquid is one of the
most important resources and
common substances found on
earth. No one can do away with
the use of water for everyday
living!
